BOG STANDARD COMES OUT TOP
12:00 - 29 October 2005
Toilets on trains serving Devon have been judged among the best in Britain. First Great Western has picked up a prize in the Loo of the Year Awards 2005 for the quality of toilets on its trains between Exeter and London.
The accolade was given after toilets in Coach D and Coach E of one of the company's trains were checked by a Loo of the Year inspector.
Toilets in Coach E include a baby changing area and facilities to help those with special needs.
The toilets topped the trains category of the awards, made annually by the British Toilet Association.
Keith Owen, the company's on-board services manager, said: "Clean, reliable toilets are an important part of our customers' journeys.
"This award is a well-deserved pat on the back for our on-train crew and cleaning teams who work so hard to make sure that train toilets are kept in tip-top condition.
"We're particularly pleased because there is nothing particularly notable or special about the toilets that were inspected.
"They are representative of all the toilets found across our fleet of high speed trains."
