Mangotsfield Viaduct
Mangotsfield Viaduct
Does anyone have any pictures of Mangotsfield Viaduct?
I have heard a lot about it but never seen any pictures of it.
Where was it located, relative to Mangotsfield station?
Thanks.

Mangotsfiled Viaduct
Mangotsfield Viaduct? you say you have heard a lot about it. In what context, what have you heard?
I do not know of a viaduct at mangotsfiled with repect to the railway station etc. but with a bit more information may be able to point you in the right direction.

Yes; As I said before, there is no viaduct at Mangotsfield. Moving west from the station, there was a 'tunnel' under the tracks where a footpath went under the lines. Further towards Staple Hill was Manor Road underbridge. Towards North Junction there was no viaduct, nor was there anything towards Bath. In fact, the nearest viaduct of sorts was probably on the Bath side of Bitton where the railway crossed the River Boyd, but that's miles away from Mangotsfield.
Mangotsfield (complete and total lack of) Viaduct
Anyway, at least I asked in the right place!
As a newbie to this forum, may I just say what a really interesting and useful website this is.

A local man eh. I was born in that area, lived around that area for nearly 50 years (my goodness an admission of age) and have never heard of what is alongside siston common being called mangotsfield viaduct. It is a single span bridge, which i photographed recently and is now included on this site. Siston common where the railway is, is not even mangotsfield, it was part of the warmley district council area as far as i remember. What we need here is for the originator of this thread to tell us more about what they were told in the first place. the speculation will continue for ever otherwise.
I seem to remember that I saw something in a magazine about 10 or 11 years ago. I would need to check whatever magazines I've got from then, the only problem being that I haven't got access to them at the moment and not likely to for another few months i.e. about Christmas time! If I get to look sooner, I'll let you all know.
