Would you believe that no-one currently has any plans to preserve any of these 4VEP units? :(

I'm surprised that none of them have gone to preserved railways. I would have thought that their (seemingly) unpopularity with the preservationists would mean being able to pick up a set quite cheap.

Having said that, I guess transportation costs for a full set would be quite high.

I still scratch my head as to why the scrapper 87s ended up going by road when Network Rail are happy to let southern region slammers travel along the GWR. I can't believe they were ever gauged for the journey. (and I can't believe that an 87 would be bigger than slammer anyway)
