Well, I've had a good look through all the gen postings for the last two days and there's nothing there that tells us what a brown loco would be.
The only loco that I know that is truly brown in colour is 73101, but I would have thought the gen groups would have lit up if she'd been in use.
As a complete and utter guess I would say it was either a Fragonset or EWS 33 or a 31. Those liveries could -possibly- look brown under the right lighting conditions.
There has been a 33 trundling around the system with an observation coach. Maybe it was that?
