"Secret" pages in the galleries

I might have just found out something that everybody else knew anyway, but here goes :)

Whilst digging around the internet looking for photographs of the S&D, I came across a Bristol Railway Archive gallery page for Charlton Viaduct at Shepton Mallet, and found four photographs lurking quietly there.

In the index on the left hand side of the gallery page, there is no entry for Shepton Mallet or Charlton viaduct.

Intrigued, I dug a little deeper!

It appears that there are umpteen pages in the galleries that have no link from the station index. Clearly this doesn't make much difference if there are no photographs for that location, but in addition to Charlton viaduct. there are photos of Bath Road viaduct at Shepton Mallet, Radstock North station and the general Wellow area to list just the ones I found today.

The moral of the story clearly is: just because there is no link from the station list in the gallery pages doesn't necessarily mean that there are no photographs to see - use the "search" facility :)

You can find the Viaducts via the Viaduct Category page.

http://bristol-rail.co.uk/wiki/Category:Viaducts :D

According to the wiki generated statistics there are 2,817 content pages, and 7,286 photos. I can't link to all of 'em on the left hand menu!

Interesting to note that the number of individual views now stands at 3,641,604. That's pretty impressive. (and explains the bandwidth bill!)

If I want to find anywhere specific, I go to the nearest listed station and then follow the geographic links to the neighbouring locations heading in the desired direction. Always gets me there eventually ... I hadn;t though of using Search though!

Out of interest, approximately what is the bandwidth bill? Will you be seeking to raise income to help cover it somehow? (Friends of Bristol Railway Archive status for uses, pub whip round, armed ambush at Temple Meads? - Just a few ideas ... )

Hey Jules, sorry for the late reply! Bandwidth bill's not too bad now. About a fiver a month I think. Been selling quite a few photos of late so the website is safe at the mo :)

And I still sell the odd copy of my Dramway book, and that helps quite a lot.

It's just time I don't have now. Not to mention all three of my kids now have a reason to use my computer and I can hardly get near the thing! My life's not like it used to be that's for sure!
