Barrow Road Depot "furniture"

A bit quiet on the forum lately so hope no-one minds this light-hearted request for opinions and advice.
Many years ago I was bequeathed what at first glance looked like a porters barrow; however, carved or branded down one side (none to neatly) is BRISTOL RM BARROW ROAD. I believe this to be a genuine article.
I am afraid I did nothing with it and now nearly all the paint has gone so it's about time I did. What was left of the paint seemed to be brown (WR "chocolate"?) or was it LMS red having faded very badly?
So what colour should I paint it? Part of me thinks that WR chocolate might be correct with the branded letters picked out in cream, or should it be LMS red with letters in black?
Should the metal framework etc be black or the same colour as the woodwork? Alas, so far there seems to be no book entitled "Sacktrucks of the Big Four - a historical survey in colour" that I can refer to.

PS: as I type this I can hear GWR No. 5521 running round its train at Oldland Commopn (Avon Valley Railway).
