It sounded nice but was hauling just 5 coaches and a 66. 4. Not much of a challenge. <BJ>

Unfortunately 50.044 failed at Bristol on the return. It was pushed to Bristol Parkway by the class 66 and then dragged to Cardiff. <BJ>

jules i drove and trained drivers on that clas and i can tell you that when they came to bath road they had their problems but the staff at bath road fixed them up they were superd to drive.

Yep. I was joking a bit. Once they had some of the early electronics stripped off they were a lot better, I'll agree. Still not as good as a Western or a Warship though!

Brings back happy memories tinkering with KV10's and CU4's etc. Those were the electronic boxes of tricks which controlled many of the locos' vital functions. Big chunks of kit, not the miniature micro-processors used today.

When a loco was reported low in power, there was always a tendency to blame the electronics, mainly because very few people at depot level understood how it worked.
