The ex-Midland line stoppers in the early 1960s were comprised invariably of ex-LMS corridor stock with occasional appearances of ex-GW or ex-LNER stock (the 6:30 pm ex Bristol TM sometimes had an ex-LNE articulated pair in its consist). But on one occasion when I caught a stopper to Bristol the ex-LMS compartment coach was unusual in having what I can only describe as a small 'writing room' at the end of the coach, with a wooden (I think built-in) desk in place of the second set of seats. Do any of you who used the Bristol-Gloucester stoppers regularly have any info or recollection of this vehicle and whether or not it was unique? I only ever saw it or (speaking more strictly) traveled in it once.
