On this Friday 7th October at the Titfield Thunderbolt bookshop in Larkhall, Bath (www.titfield.co.uk) and commencing at midday

Martin Curtis will be signing and launching his new book "The Bristol Scroll" (ú10.00 published by Millstream) which is all about the different uses that the famous "Bristol" scroll was put to. Mainly buses and aeroplanes but also cars and other less expected things too.

Mike Walker will be a guest along with his Bristol KSW highbridge bus parked outside the shop(!!), together with Sir George and Lady White, Sir George is the great grandson of his namesake who was a self made man who set up the Bristol aeroplane company, Bristol Tramways and did a huge amount for his beloved city of Bristol. Martin is MD of the Bath Bus Company and other guests should include Peter Davey and Tim Graham, the publisher and the chap who built up Whitemans from 1975 until he sold it in 1995.

All are very welcome, drinks will be served and lots of other facilities available in Larkhall. Please feel free to pass on the invite to anyone else you know who may be interested.

If anyone from here does visit then please make youself known, I will be the bespectacled one with a bottle in his hand

I'm afraid I can't make it on Friday, I've just volunteered to work a rest day :(
Will the book be available by mail order?

Hi Mitch

Yes it will be available mail order.

I'll happily supply post free to anyone on this group who'd like a copy but is unable to make it on Friday and get it signed by Martin too if wanted.

I will get it on my website but if you contact me in the meantime I'll make sure I put one by.

My e-mail is on the website as is the shop 'phone or feel free to send me a message via this group.

Peter Davey came over to the shop today to discuss which double yellow lines we are going to park the bus on(!) The bus, Mike Walker's 1955 Bristol KSW highbridge will be arriving in Larkhall at about 10.30am on Friday.

I must say that having grown up in Larkhall and caught the 201/211s up to school in the early 1970s I am really looking forward to seeing a proper bus back in Larkhall Square again!

I will make sure I take lots of pictures.....
