Some time ago I posted about looking for photos of Ashley Hill Junction Signal Box and someone sent me two photos.

Now I am curious as to who the signalman was on 30th April 1941. Long shot I know, but can anyone tell me who this might have been.

For 10 years now I have been researching the crash of a Wellington bomber in St Andrews Park on 30th April 1941. I have an account of a man walking along the railway line towards the signal box at Ashley Hill and seeing a parachute on the line, which had come off the end of a balloon barrage cable. As he was climbing over the fence to investigate a signalman came out from the signal box and shouted at him to leave it alone as it was on railway property. I'd love to know who the signalman was and maybe contact him or his family to see if there is a family story about what happened to this parachute.

See my website at www.wellingtont2905.co.uk for the full story of Wellington T2905.
