Arriva Trains Wales strike

Post by carpetcone »

I was interested to read that whilst the Arriva Trains Wales ASLEF strike for Sunday and Monday had been publicised in advance, there is no provision for replacement bus services.

The companies excuse is that they cannot source enough buses.

Taken from their web site " Will you provide replacement road transport in place of cancelled trains?
No - we will not be able to source enough buses and coaches to meet demand and to provide an effective replacement service across our network. We run over 950 trains a day, which would translate into a like-for-like requirement for thousands of buses. Therefore we would not be able to provide alternative transport."

Rather a lame excuse from Arriva, who of course, were once better known as a bus company.

I would have thought that at least making an effort to provide cover on its longer distance services would have been a more appropriate response.

Not a suprising reply considering who their parent company now is DB Schenker.
