The Modernisation of Pilning Station
The Modernisation of Pilning Station
Newly installed at Pilning station, an electronic help point with solar panels, a rock salt container for the snow, WHY ? there's only two trains on a Saturday and thats it, Someone has money to waste, Or is it healthy and safety gone mad, How long will it be before it gets vandalised, or stolen for scrap, J M H.
Was the parking prohibition notice still there?
I suppose that some facilites are needed in case there is a need to leave a train load of passengers in an emergency.
I wonder if Pilning has moved up the least used stations table? Somehow I doubt it, given that so few trains stop. The last figures for 2008 showed that it was the bottom 20, at no 13.

Erm, it happened again in the last month or so, as all semaphore signalling controlled by Shirley box on the "Shakespeare Line" was converted to LED lighting...for its last 5 weeks in service.Robin Summerhill wrote:I don't know about these days, but in BR days the right hand often didn't know what the left hand was doing.
There is the howler from 50 years ago when the gas lighting was stripped out of Coalpit Heath station and electric lighting was installed.
Three months before closure

THe Modernisation of Pilning Station
When trains used to stop at Pilning during the weeks in the school summer holiday periods they used to be quite busy, see http://www.john-m-hobbs.fotopic.net/p67986206.html J M H
THe Modernisation of Pilning Station
Two on Saturdays, One in the morning from Cardiff and one in the Afternoon to Cardiff
Anyone noticed the platforms are incorrectly numbered at Pilning as well.
Down is signed 2 and up is 1 but according to sign at entrance to car park p1 goes to wales etc and 2 to Bristol etc
Yes the parking prohibited sign is present a little way to left of comms mast cabin, but you would be hard pushed to park there as so much rubbish dumped there.
