doubl track at crewkerne

Hi everyone,went to westbay yesterday and stopped at crewkerne to take some pics, to me it looks like there is not enough room between the platforms for a second line or is it just a optical ellusion?

I'm sure the platforms haven't cuddled up closer since there were 2 tracks there.

Plenty of room still, maybe you're used to seeing stations built for broad gauge? Or is it the edge of the ballast making the vacant trackbed seem narrower...it doesn't mark the centre of the formation.
