Its great to see the older locos like 40145 back out again but why the hell did they paint it in a fictional livery it never carried, would be great to see it boring blue or green livery, with small panels. Just my opinion.........never paid anything toward the resto' so i dont really have a voice but all the same.

I agree..whilst I loved LLB on 47's and 50's this was one of the reasons why I didnt really bother to go out for pictures of it.

Its much the same for the 50 in Load Haul and lined LMS red... granted it adds something a bit different, but smacks of we've got money to spend, so lets "just spend it for the sake of it"...

I know I'm being a bit pretencious but its my camera...

Of course there have been similar arguments in steam preservation, especially when a locomotive has been around long enough to be justifiably painted in a number of different liveries.

At the end of the day, a locomotive's owners can paint it in whatever colours they like!

Don't I remember seeing a "Hall" somewhere in an odd shade of maroon? :)

Very true, but you do have to question why... which is something we can never answer.

At the back of my mind I often wonder if they are aiming to recreate the Hornby Trains catalouge and the many ficticious liveries that were once applied to those models aim at the younger generation... just wondering how long it will be before we see a Polo tank wagon crawling out of Westerleigh?

I seem to have started a whole new topic but if you want to see the extreme in ficticious liveries have a look at http://fictitiousliveries.fotopic.net/
A Prairie tank in FGW livery, I ask you? but Tornado in Intercity Swallow livery looks quite pleasant.
