I have not heard or seen anything about the preservation /reopening scheme for the Frome to Radstock line for a long time .
Does anyone have any recent developments news/information ?
Frome to Radstock Line
Only that developer planning to build on railway land is after "reserved matters" planning permission. it relates to external appearance, landscaping and materials oly for the 56 residential units, 554 sq metres of shopping and 235 sq metres of office space. This is in addition to the planning permission they already have .
Regarding rail movement, I posted on in the news "parry people mover" that lib dems went on fact finding mission to see whether the people mover could be of use by re-opening dissused lines/trackbeds around the norton radstock area. I have thrown out paper now but implication was that among others this line could be used.

Frome to Radstock Line
Detail Planning OK'd for the 56 dwellings with Reserved Matters, but due to lack of grants from HCA, building unlikey to start yet. Also there is still disagreement about allowance for bat corridor.
Latest plans (hopes?) have been drawn up for ú40m, with terminus at Radstock and platform at Frome, behind Cheese & Grain. Possibly one at Mells. No freight currently planned. Timetable produced which does not require any extra stock, but staffing not investigated. Could provide early-morning HST to start from Radstock instead of Frome, going to Paddington & return in evening, stopping at Frome (C&G). Through the day, shuttles to Westbury / Bath / Bristol possible. At peak hours, time taken to Bath with limited-stop train would be no longer than driving on A367 and you could work on laptop!
Have heard about the PPM and rejected it. There seems little point running a shuttle to Frome, which has a bad service anyway.
We now need to present statistics on potential destinations and users: any statisticians / consultants out there?
