Does anyone know of the existance of any photographs of any of the following Halts in the Bristol area ?

Nightingale Valley Halt - Portishead branch.

Long Ashton Halt - Bristol to Yatton main line

Whitchurch Halt - Bristol to Hallatrow line

Combe Hay Halt - Camerton branch

For combe hay halt photo's,you might try and get hold of the book,The camerton branch,if you haven't done so already...it sometimes comes up on ebay and is rare as rocking horse s..t

There are several of Ham Green Halt from 1960 on this site, too.

Chippy - yes I have a copy of the Camerton book - when I was trying to find one as they dont come up very often I wrote to the publishers and fortunately they still had a couple in their stock room.

I have yet to find a picture of Combe Hay , Nightingale Valley or Long Ashton showing trains using the halts . I know there are some of Whitchurch around but have not located them as yet - regretably on the many occasions I used to travel the Wells Road back then and would see trains using the Whitchurch Halt I never had a camera with me or more likely didnt think it interesting enough to waste my then expensive film on . If only ...........

I'm sure I've seen a picture of Long Ashton halt on the web recently. I think it was on a local history website but I don't seem to be able to find it again now. The photo showed a Castle running through the station with a clear view of the running-in board. The same picture may have appeared in one of Colin Maggs's books that I browsed in the Central Library recently.

There are a couple of Whitchurch pics in the book "Through Countryside and Coalfield" by Mike Vincent.

By the way Hobbler, copies of the Camerton Branch book are currently for sale on the Amazon website at ú65 - ú80 !!

There is one on ebay at the moment with a starting bid of ú12.99 and no bids as yet.

Personally I take no notice of the Amazon prices - an aquaintenance who writes model railway instruction books was somewhat surprised to see one of his current titles which retails at around ú10 and is readily available from many shops on the amazon site for ú840 - theres always some ready to try it on !

The Picture of Long Ashton can be found in Somerset Railway Stations by Mike Oakley (Dovecote Press) and shows the Nameboard and a LMS Crab on an Excursion train in 1937.
Nightingale Valley Halt is also shown in this fine book and this is the only Pic
I have ever seen of this. Incidently I have been collecting GW tickets now for 50years and issues to this site are unknown by my fellow collectors.

No problem - I knew what you meant.

Actually the youtube clip seems to be an online copy of a duplicated A4 publication the department did many years ago .

The 'camerton branch' book on ebay sold for ú27 + postage.

I was watching that!
