Freightliner Class 70's

...are supposed to be landing at Newport docks in Nov.

Just curious as to where they go from there and if we'd be lucky/unlucky to see these curious (ugly) looking machines come through our neck of the woods?

It is a strange looking beast, the windows on the cab sides look like an after thought. Not sure they are quite up to the same standard of ugliness as the class 66's though. I'm always puzzled as to why the Irish class 201 which is similar to the 66's ended up with a reasonably good looking front end while the 66's look like something designed by a commitee.

The standard American version of a 66 has a cab like a hotel room. Superb air con, vibration dampers, bathroom, the lot ..... Of course, decent spec cabs were far too expensive for EWS ....

Still think it looks like it's been made out of cast-off lego and odd scraps of sticky-backed plastic.

Personally, I don't like them either ... they could have done better.
I don't like the crinkly bits on the cab fronts, the cabs themselves look like they've been cut off a Plasser track machine and the bow-wave effect paint job - well, it makes them look like something splashing through the sea!
Can I be the first to propose we name them "Whales" or perhaps "Moby Dicks"?
The middle bit is OK enough - it's just that the cabs are hideous ...
