I understand from a source in FGW that Andrew Haines is leaving.

Unfortunately this is correct: Andrew Haines is not only leaving FGW but leaving First Group entirely.

From a passenger's point of view he has done a great deal of good work and leaves FGW in a much better state than when he arrived: I am sorry to see him go.

I understand that Mark Hopwood (currently FGW's performance director, formerly from NX where he was MD of London Lines including c2c, Silverlink and GEx) will replace Andrew Haines as the MD of FGW.

That depends on which passenger you ask I suppose :) ...
I was surprised to hear of the departure, but I am sure he will re-appear else where in the fullness of time.

bosses

Don"t last long do they? When railway men ran the show the bosses stayed a long time and perhaps one day soon I hope they will run the system again. :(
