I worked for British Rail Western Region as a guard from about spring 1974 to April
1975 unfortunately I did not carry a camera with me at the time so did not record my time there I then transferred after a while to Exeter St. Davids working trains to Bristol, Biddeford, Dawlish etc. then transfered to Westbury mainly working out and back from Merehead Quarry via Witham Friary loop, Bristol Salisbury, & Severn Tunnel.

I would like to know if there is anybody who has any photos or cine film
of this period, also the Plymouth & Whorle Special that I worked from Westbury to Barton Hill spur in Bristol lOCO No. Class 52 1036 from Plymouth to Westbury changing engine to Class 52 1052 onward to Bristol
head code number 1Z58 date Saturday 29th March 1975 07.15 from Plymouth.

Also any class 47s or 52s that mainly worked to Merehead Quarry

book for that day it was indeed the Western Sunset, I looked at the link page spent 15 typing the guy an email but he must be on a different mailing system as when pressing send it comes back as an error so I am not typing it all again, just my bad luck.

Well, I still look after a Class 52 - D1010 on The West Somerset Railway for the D&EPG

D1010 was a regular performer to the very last days on all those specials. I was on a few myself!
