For the collectors of railway memorabilia out there. From the Wessex Trains site:

Looks as though the first batch are from Cornwall / Devon, but it's only time before Parson Street turns up!

Old Station Name Signs Selling on EBAY

Wessex Trains today became probably the first passenger train operating company to dispose of old station name signs through the online auction house eBay.

Over the past three years Wessex Trains has been investing in a wide range of station improvements, one of which is smart new station name signs along the platforms. Those on the 'Great Scenic Railways of Devon & Cornwall' include the individual line logos. The new signs replace a motley collection of signs, some more than 20 years old, and featuring a variety of different brandings - including the old BR 'double arrow'.

The redundant station name signs are being disposed of on behalf of Wessex Trains by rail design services company ImageRail. Two per week are being added to the hugely popular online auction house 'eBay', in the category: Collectables: Transportation: Railwayana: Hardware Railwayana.

ThereÆs a ú15 starting price for the auction, which lasts seven days and is run very similar lines to a conventional auction. Anyone can sign up for free on eBay.

The first two station name signs are:

ò Bere Alston (Devon). Includes former 'Tamar Valley Line' logo and Wales & West branding [to find this, search on item number 6505955884].

ò Liskeard (Cornwall). Includes 'Regional Railways' branding [to find this, search on item number 6505957820].

The signs are expected to be popular not only with railfans but also more generally with people who have a particular interest in their locality. Other types of surplus signs will also be sold in this way, plus items such as giant 48-sheet posters!

Bob Houghton, Head of Marketing for Wessex Trains, commented: "Passengers and train enthusiasts have noticed that weÆve been replacing old station names and asked us could they have one - well, now they can!"

I want to buy a single First Class HST reclining seat...I sneaked a ride in one the other day and it was so comfy I nearly fell asleep

Dunno about signs though...although "Looe" for the bathroom door is already popular

Actually...I want Exeter Central :D
