Bath rapid bus transit
Saw on the news and on BANES website that there is a proposal, (in fact compulsory purchase orders for land have been made) to run articulated buses from the park and ride at Newbridge, into Bath. It looks from the map as if they're going to take over the old Midland rail alignment where the cycle path ends in Bath, and run along the course of the old line toward Green Park. Will they be using the old rail bridge still in place over the Avon by Windsor Bridge? Have we covered this before and I hadn't noticed it?

It was mentioned in passing here.
Yes, I believe they do plan to use the old LMS bridge over the Avon. Currently there's a BBC Publications warehouse at the eastern end and a VW showroom near the western end, but I guess they would have to go.

Hope this isn't a practice for a slightly bigger project.. I wonder how long before somebody at BANES re-thinks what a good idea it would be to head along cycleway towards bristol. Still even if they do it would take a long time ( anyone remember the bath spa project) and cost more than the olympics..
