A little bit outside our area I admit, but the new-build A1 60163 "Tornado" has moved under its own steam for the first time in Darlington and it looks magnificent: I have been a supporter of the project for several years and know just how much hard work and money has gone into making this a reality. Video is here...

Great to see possibly the finest ever class of express steam loco (well, it's a toss-up between them and Gresley's A3s and A4s) reborn.

I have been following this site for a long time, i was going to post here but you have beaten me to it. What i am really waiting for is the day this loco takes to the main line and runs at its full permitted speed 95mph. That will be a sight and a half.

Absolutely fantastic achievement!

And thats from a diesel man!!

Anyone want to help me start an appeal to re-build a D600 Warship? Or D6319?

This was shown on last weeks "How do they do it?" (episode 3) on Channel 5.
It can be viewed on their "on demand" section
http://demand.five.tv/Episode.aspx?epis ... 5141170003
The section is split between the new loco and Robert Llewellyn driving a steam loco on the North York Moors railway.
