I didnt know Saltford ever had a station. Where was it, near the bottom of the hill by the speed camera on the A4 just as you head out of Saltford? Looks like clearing there.

Yes pretty much. Looking at http://www.old-maps.co.uk in 1887 the station buildings are just to the west of the bridge that crosses The Shallows road, with trees shown where the clearing is now, on the 1933 map sidings are shown where the clearing is (from near the footbridge to the station building).

Thanks Chippy, I have sent you an email :)

I think Saltford had two stations, one on the GWR line and the other on the line that goes to Green park station, although I think the other station was called Kelston.

You're right about the photos, but a Google search throws up some fantastic video of a Warship and Westerns passing through a still-extant Saltford station at speed on YouTube here.
It's a DVD clip, though, so probably isn't legal...

Map addicts like me, might like to see: http://tinyurl.com/4lhqby where there is a map of Saltford dated 1919.

Great video of the warship and western at saltford.
Wouldn't it be fantastic if there was film of the old LMS line through Bristol.
