O/T, IDs wanted for three class 40s on STJ, 1982/3

Post by bristolian »

Hello,

One Saturday in either 1982 or 1983, I did my regular trip over to STJ from BTM. This particular day, there were three 40s on shed, of each nose-end style.
One I am sure was 40128, buffered up to a disc headcode example.
Parked nearby on an outer road was a centre-headcode version (Not from 40060-066).

If anybody can help with the IDs for these, and the date, I'd be very grateful.

Incidentally, I am uploading a large number of scanned negs at this gallery :-

Look out for the Bristol scenes gallery.

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

Hello again,

Does anyone remember the Billy Graham specials from 1984? I am after the ID of the blue-roofed 47 that brought a special into Ashton Gate. The return working was by Grey-roofed 47150.
Also, set B307 worked in to Ashton Gate, with a 3-car Class 104 coupled onto it's northern end. Can anyone ID the Class 104 for me?
Pics to follow :).

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

So very different to today. Reminds me of the old man taking me to see trains around that time (I would have been 5 in 83!)

Amazing.
Defected from the holy goodness of Bristol to live in the rail mecca of Rogiet...

Hello,

I have just uploaded some more shots to the Bristol Scenes, South Wales in the 80s, and to new Crewe and Dawlish Warren folders.

In the Bristol folder, there are some shots from Ashton of the Billy Graham specials. I travelled in B595.

If I can get IDs of the other 47, and the BRCW set, I'll upload those too.

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.
