Gosh Rich! They all seem like such a long time ago now!

Here's a small Happy New Year taster of some of the things I've been adding to the new site this week:

Wow!

Fantastic new pics! Can't wait to see more... Have you been time-travelling to get these or something?

Lawrence Hill Junction? Where was that signal box? Looks like Barrow Road - Midland to me. Was this box named from the old junction that many years ago went down to the Bristol & South Wales? Can't quite place it!

Happy New Year all.

Taster, I'm drooling, this brings back memories and is a super record of the way Bristol railways used to be. I know as you said on Flickr that the new site keeps getting knocked back, but if this is what we are going to get the wait will be worthwhile.

What a superb photograph of Lawrence Hill Jc. Spent many an hour in that area in the early 60s - brings back many memories.

Brilliant pictures madhattie,we don't see enough of the old Midland line as it is in its heyday or at the end.
When do your new site go online because if that is what we have got to look forward to then I can't wait.

It'll be a while (unfortunately) before it goes live. The main reason is because I can't simply link the new webpages to the photos currently on the server, I have to upload the whole lot a second time. I've done quite a lot over the last two weeks in particular though, so I think I'm closer to the end than the beginning now!

It'll be worth the wait, there's loads of new stuff, loads of archive stuff, lots of gaps plugged etc.

Here's another taster, sent to my by John Thorn just this week.

Having had a preview of the new site I can honestly say it will be well worth waiting for. There are a lot of new features, but I'd better not say anything else just in case madhattie doesn't want me to!!

Is there anything we can do to help?

I've thought about trying to rope a few people in to help, but the trouble is anyone else would have twice as much work to do as myself because they wouldn't have the photos sitting on their hardrive. Therefore they'd have to download each photo and then re-upload it, which would probably drive them nuts!

I suppose people could maybe add the text for each location and I could add the photos later. I mean if people want to help, I'd certainly welcome it, but it's repetitive work, and I wouldn't want anyone to offer their services and then feel obligated.

Once the site is live, I'd definitely like to build up a team who'd be prepared to add new material and edit things. Events such as the Coal Stone Haul could be easily documented with a team of photographers adding their photos to a Coal Stone Haul section for instance.
