The Bristol Railway Archive

In the last two days this website has managed to find its way into over 800 surfers favourites file. This is a huge amount more than normal, (a normal week would see it being bookmarked by about 150 people) especially considering the 'local' nature of the website.

There's nothing in the log files to suggest where these hits are coming from so I guess people must be typing the url directly into their browser. This has lead me to conclude that the url has been printed in a magazine somwhere.

A quick flick through the ones I get, plus the local Bristol newspapers has revealed nowt.

So, can I ask if this is the first time you've visited the website, how did you find it?? Did you see it printed in a mag that I don't know about?

I fould your site while I was reading some letters on the Website of SIMSIG,. because at Xmas they are bringing out a new Simulation for Bristol T.M Power Box. So I think this site may have given you such a great responce.

Found site on search engine yahoo. Before i found this site i was making do with crap bits and bobs on the web of Bristol steam. great site i do get cheered up in work when checking my e-mail to find there has been a update!!

I discovered this website because someone had posted the URL on the noticeboard in the Wessex Trains messroom in Collet House, BTM, with the comment "One for the trainspotters".
This is a great site, and whoever put the notice on the wall in Collet House is obviously not a railway enthusiast!.

Hi Mitch, I'm glad the website made it onto the canteen wall anyway!

When I did the webpage showing the upgrade work at Filton Abbey Wood I ended up chatting to quite a few of the workers on site, and would tell them that I was building a 'local history website' and was archiving what they were doing. They were always very enthusiastic and would encourage me to get pics of things they thought I might miss, and one of the site managers kept encouraging me to visit the Filton Dump because it was where they were assembling track panels and they had dirty great big crane up there which could only raise its jib at certain times because otherwise it would interfere with the radar at Filton Airport. (I never managed to visit because I spent my 'skive time' at FAW getting the pics!) They were a great bunch up there and I got a great webpage as a result.

I've chatted to quite a few guards while getting pics for my BugPics website, and they've always been a very friendly bunch too, none of them have minded me getting a pic of them when asked.

Anyway's, I don't know where I'm going with this now so shall sign off ... LOL

I think I found the site by searching for old pics and info on the Bristol - Gloucester LMS line. A great site that has got me interested in the modern Bristol railway scene rather than hiding behind the newspaper wishing it was a Black 5 or a 2P 4-4-o taking me from Yate to Cheltenham every day.

I found the site by searching Yahoo for Hallen Marsh / Holesmouth Junction (my grandfather used to be a platelayer there).
