Two Hall class engines come into Bristol, via Westerleigh. The route seems to have changed, and the current listing is still provisional.

Any thoughts on good sites for the run in from Badminton?
Which of the footbridges on Filton Bank are not covered in mesh, and suitable for shooting this double header on the way out of Bristol?

I'm out to get some pics of this at the weekend,
Thinking Chipping Sodbury way on the inbound route and then FAW in the evening return, hoping the weather holds out better than last week!
Isnt the bridge down by Narroways one of the cageless bridges?

chipping sodbury good vantage point high up but its a bit head on for very good shots, best hope is if the engineers are in the yard on sat, you might try asking for a shot near the old platform?

Yes thats an idea...perhaps I could get the GF to make some caramel shortcake and wang it their way. If they arnt there then I can munch on it whilst waiting!!
The other place I thought was perhaps trying ahead of the tunnel out the other side of Chipping Sodbury along the run into the tunnel.
I always find this line a pain to get decent shots as its always up on embankments or down in cuttings.

a couple of postings on national preservation forum suggest that the train is either running to time or 4 mins earlier.
May try out one of the bridges over Filton Bank for the return.

Top stuff...they seemed remarkably quiet and didnt seem to have to put much effort in by the sound of them...but then I guess you wouldnt when there are two!

I like this photo. Looks even better if you full-size it.

I liked the all shots I have seen on this site of today's run. Took some photographs at Temple Meads, but fotopic uploads seem to be hard to set up for some reason. Has anyone else managed to take any pictures of the return run up Filton Bank? I was going to go, but foolishly thought that Untied and Chelski might improve their play.

We saw them at Alderton at 3.58 pm on 19th, plenty of black smoke from both engines.
When I have worked out how to post pictures I'll do so! Thanks for the hints on timings.

Welcome to the forum Sipahi
Posting is easy....
You will need to either host them on a site such as
http://imageshack.us/ or if you have a load of pics to upload then a gallery site such as
http://fotopic.net/ is as good as any.
Once uploaded using the direct link you can copy it to a post and tag it using the IMG...IMG* buttons on the reply text box.
Hope this helps and post away!
