Do I need a ticket for my cello?

Post by mow »

I don't know what the standard terms and conditions might be for the carriage of cellos or double basses, but First Great Western might not be viewing this latest offering from the BBC with equanimity.

This might be the latest PR problem for FGW, I'm not wholly convinced that the BBC's coverage is entirely fair, but someone might know which terms apply to the carriage of large musical instruments, and whether the BBC is posting a 'fair' account of events.

I think it simply boils down to: were those seats required by standing passengers? If yes, move the cellos or pay the fare, if not, there's no harm so leave them alone.

Having said that I think the musicians were pretty rude to simply expect to turn up with their instruments and have them ride alongside them on the train.
