I'm going to try and catch it somewhere between FAW and Severn Tunnel...not made up my mind yet where though!

I woke up just in time to see it hammer up Filton Bank from my bedroom window! Looked like she made easy work of the hill.

Get a map, and find a location where you won't be looking straight into the sun. Ideally, the sun should be behind you, although this doesn't apply if you're trying for glints. Also, make sure you're on the sunny side of the train, or all you get is a silhouette with bleached sky.

Saw the King en route to and from Carmathen at St Ishmael. Stood on a pill box on the sea wall, close to the River Towy esturary near Ferryside. Quite a turnout for the return, 15 chaps with cameras, some of them arrived two hours in advance of the return run. I think a couple of them have shots printed in Steam Railway and Heritage Railway and other magazines. For some reason my other half was keen to sit and read in the sun, she liked the location. There must be a quid pro quo.
It was hazy all day on the other side of the Severn.

Have just been watching this video of the Red Dragon, taken by one of the support crew of 6024, so if you have about 7 mins to spare enjoy the trip out from Temple Meads.

Another view from the support coach of the Red Dragon, shows the run from Bridgend.

Still worth more than 6 mins of Holby City...
