Black Five at Temple Meads today
Black Five at Temple Meads today
Have noticed that a Black Five is returning to Barton Hill from Exeter today, reaches Temple Meads about 18.20 today.
BLACK FIVE
Ian Rileys black five 45407 arrives at Barton hill today and remains there until next Tuesday when it returns light engine + Support coach to its home base in Bury.
45407 has spent the last week in Cornwall running a series of branch line trips.

Nice pictures Mow.
Ian Riley certainly "cossets" 45407 with plenty of tender loving care!
Everytime I have seen this engine its always immacutely turned out.
I am not a great fan of engines being named in preservation when they were not in there BR service days.
This engine takes the name from Royal Scot class 46119 Lancashire Fusilier, but in this case Ian Riley being a "staunch" Lancastrian" and one of steam preservations leading "lights" can do what he likes as far as I am concerned!

45407 Black Five departs
The Black Five 45407 is supposed to be on its way from Barton Hill to Bury, does anyone know when it leaves? At the moment I assume it heads out towards the Severn Tunnel.
I took some pictures from Patchway Station this morning. The Black Five ran through slightly ahead of schedule, perhaps someone saw it on Filton Bank?

Nice shot from Cattybrook. Had thought about going up there, but time was not on my side, so went to Patchway. Considered using the footbridge for the shots, but by the time I had stopped thinking about it, the tangomen were stepping away from the lines, and the Black Five came into view. I thought she was a couple of minutes early.
Noticed that some poor soul referred to Kettlex for the Royal Duchy, and kettle veg for photographers who photograph steam engines!
