I've just come across a photo on the splendid Narrow Gauge Heaven site of one of the NG locos that used to work at Imperial Smelting. I'm sure it will be of interest here. According to the caption, the photographer - one Max Sinclair - bought the locos to save them from scrap, then tried to give them away, but couldn't find a taker, so they went to Canada.

Great find Andy.

You can blame my dad for their withdrawal from service - but if you think how few preserved lines there were back in those days and how many industrial engines were being withdrawn in that period it is not too surprising that it couldn't find a home.

It would be great to know if it was still intact somewhere in Canada.

My dad informs me the narrow gauge engines were originally used on the construction of the Portway in the 1920's.
