New Platform for Bristol Parkway

Perhaps old news for the forum....?
Had a letter from Network Rail informing me of increased noise activity at night over the next months at Bristol Parkway due to works to "increase station capacity"...
A quick peruse on tinternet reveals that there are plans in place to provide an additional platform at Parkway.
I would imagine this is using the old royal mail terminal?
Any thoughts or other details?
Could be a good opertunity to snap some engineering workings at close quarters!
Details attached

I think the new platform is going to be alongside the Royal Mail building, rather than utilising it.
The work is being carried out by Dean & Dyball who have kindly agreed to supply me with ground-level photos of the work as they do it.

The up loop that runs behind the up platform will become a passenger loop with a new face provided on the current up platform. The up loop platform will stretch further towards London then the up badminton one because of the buildings at the Welsh end. Like the current platforms it won't be permissive.
A bit of a cheap and cheerful project involving minimal alterations to the signalling. It should be a useful regulation point for the charfield line services (to get Midlands past Gloucesters) but where the freights waiting relief will go I'm not entirely sure!
My hunch is that they will divert the new hourly Weston - Filton service into Parkway at some point...

Prehaps once it is built and in operational use it will prevent ews using the royal mail platform as a stabling point for the ever late running coal trains out of portbury bound for the north

uumm...I have some photos taken back in 1972 I think, when the original Parkway was first built. They will make an interesting comparison.
Of course there were no canopies in those days either, just bus shelters and a booking office with a footbridge.
No doubt others remember too?
