More pics
Well, it seems the map is expanding, so will the site expand to incorporate all locations on the map? What fun .... I've mailed you some pics taken at Westbury tonight for starters. What a project!
Jules
Hmm - I'm pretty sure, but maybe it has become a very famous ficticious station. I shall do some research but I'm sure I've seen a real picture ....Are you sure there was a station at Engine Wood?

Re: More pics
Do you mean me Jules, only I haven't received any photos if you do!jules wrote:Well, it seems the map is expanding, so will the site expand to incorporate all locations on the map? What fun .... I've mailed you some pics taken at Westbury tonight for starters. What a project!
The map is brilliant.
Shows me and my efforts up rather badly though
Is it my imagination or was there once a station serving Locking on the Weston-Super-Mare avoider?
I believe you have missed Twerton, between Saltford and Oldfield Park.
Superb map though! How about extending it Taunton-wards?

Engine Wood
Interesting. I found these on Engine Wood (the model) site.
Do we think they are .... forgeries .... gasp!

And this! Shock horror .... described as "the remains of Engine Wood station in 1985" (by the Author).

Photos are on the way mate ....

Re: Engine Wood
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic here or not but yes there are fakes! Tim even had a signal box diagram done... (note there are no trap points protecting the running line from the sidings).jules wrote:Interesting. I found these on Engine Wood (the model) site.

Just in case you do believe it was a real place read the "history" where the line was part of the S&DJR. The S&DJR had nothing to do with the Camerton branch save for receiving a little rent for where the branch passed under Midford viaduct.

Engine Wood
Well, no. I was being a little sarcastic there, what with the notice of closure and the picture of the station.Just in case you do believe it was a real place
But, I will admit that when I was researching the order of the stations on the Camerton Branch to put spots on the new map, I was taken in initially - through not checking what my source of info a actually was. Seemed strange the place wasn't mentioned on any of true life references to the Camerton branch.
Ha! Ha ... fooled at my age! By a model .... great site and all tribute to author Tim. So, I guess that's one spot that needs to come off the map then.
But it does raise the question, where was the picture that poses as Engine Wood really taken? All very evocative if you ask me ....

Thanks for the kind words everyone, the map has been updated with respect to the comments, although I've just noticed that I've forgotten the Twerton one.
Due to the increasing number of stations and halts being added the text size will be reduced slightly (as you can see from the few done at the top of the map). I'll also be using different symbols with respect to halts and stations.

I'm not sure of the extents of the map just yet, but Taunton may be a possibility.James wrote:How about extending it Taunton-wards?
