From 71000's facebook page.

"Unfortunatley 71000 will not be hauling this week's Torbay Express, instead it will be hauled by 70000 Britannia. A light engine movement could not be arranged to get the Duke to Bristol in time."

What a lame excuse. <BJ>

Heritage Liveried 47 arrived at BTM last night and no sign of any Steam anywhere... :?

I'm trying not to put two and two together...

At almost the same time, the 1501 WSM - Paddington failed between Bathford and Box (with me on it). To start with it appeared that we might have been there for some time, but the driver found a fault and isolated the rear power car, so we got away on one engine after an 18-minute stand.

Might have been quite an afternoon if we'd been blocking the main line for some time and the nearest spare "rescue engine" just happened to be a 7MT, standing around not all that far from 82E

71000 'Duke of Gloucester' was being cleaned and prepared for tomorrow's Torbay Express at Barton Hill as I passed this morning.
60163 'Tornado' was also present. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' was in light steam at SPM in preparation for tomorrow's charter to Par.
<BJ> was on his way to B&Q to earn himself some brownie points in preparation for tomorrow's charters. <BJ>
