I suppose the main problem is that it is often difficult to find something new to say.

When somebody writes something new about the Bristol to Bath or Gloucester lines, or the S&D, then I am often tempted to get cracking on the keyboard. And the same applies when somebody comes up with ideas or press reports on new railway service suggestions.

Similarly, a bit of 60s nostalgia that will bring the memories flooding back of bunking Bath Road and Barrow Road by going in the unoffical back way will get me going.

I am afraid I have very little to add to stories of new diesels turning up, or indeed modern railways in general. That I leave to others with more interest in these matters.

Right, I'll just go and light the fire, get the injectors on in about half an hour, and the TV should be ready to go shortly afterwards :)

OK - here's something different (though not exactly on topic for Bristol!)

The former GWR General Manager Sir Felix Pole went blind in his later years. Does anybody know what problem he had that caused this?

Felix Pole

Like all great managers he never saw to see his staff had good wages and working conditions only big profits for the share holders. For the workers the Great Western Railway was no different than the employers of the age and nothing has changed even to -day in this enlighten age note whats going on now.

My wife is eight and three quarters months pregnant and most of my time of late has been spent getting the house ready for the new arrival! Her nesting instinct results in me decorating and rebuilding!

Thanks! Little Stanley and mum are both doing fine. Neither got a wink of sleep last night and my eyes are propped open with matchsticks but other than that, no complaints! :D
