Pilning Low Level
Pilning Low Level
The website picture collection includes one taken after closure inside the old 'Pilning Branch' signal-box at Pilning Low Level, and also one of the ground-frame hut at the Severn Beach end of the station. This ground-frame has now arrived at its new home on the South Devon Railway, but there are some queries to solve about its history.
Does anyone have any personal experience and/or official information about (a) the working of the ground-frame, (b) the interlocking of its release from the signal-box and (c) the interlocking lever working of the single-line between the 'Branch' and 'Junction' signal-boxes?

Thanks for the offer of pix - much appreciated.
From what I have seen reported so far, when the hut was collected from its current resting-place in a Pilning garden it rapidly disassembled itself into a kit of parts! So it may be some time before it gets put back together at the SDR
I'll try to get someone to take shot for me when that happens.....
