ICI sidings

Post by southglosboy »

A demolition firm is in action in this area of the former ICI complex on Severnside. They informed me that the sidings will be lifted soon and a number of the towers and spheres are also to be demolished. Get your photos before its too late. SGB.

Track

Has anyone any idea what they are doing with the lifted track and in particular, the pointwork?

Fair play, i was just thinking smaller operations, but the 3 way points would make one hell of a fan at the new triangle,

Is this the old zeneca plant at avon side as there was or is a lot of track there, of couse no garantee of the condition i cant remember the last train i saw there.

I can't remember the company at the site, but will let you know if I do remember. I had to collect some machinery from them, they were a demolition firm and were clearing the area adjacent to the sidings. I asked them if they were clearing the sidings as well and they said that work would start soon. I only have the word from this one guy to go on, but why would he make it up.
When the trackwork was being removed from Merebank (i think thats what you call it) last year parallel with St Andrews Road, I asked a workman if I could have a point-lever. No prizes for guessing his reply !

Looking over from the road bridge above the ICI spur, it appears that lot of track has now been lifted. There is also some work going on on the river side of the road as well.

The Terra has closed.

The Nitram tower will be demolished sometime in November. I was told today the M-Way, A403 and railway will be closed during demolition.

Quite a demolition!

I remember going up the top of that tower in the 1980's during an open day. It was a long, long way up and a hell of a view from the top ....

Still, seems it won't be missed.
