Where do you think this is?

Post by Donkey »

Was browsing ebay and found this GWR picture of an unknown location and no I'm not after the ú5 for naming it!

Any ideas where this is?

It looks a bit like Yatton to my novice eyes with a bay on the left but the line looks to go off to the right in the distance which seems wrong.

Over to the experts :D

Definitely not Yatton...the station building is wrong, and look at that substantial stone-tower footbridge.

I had an inkling it was Tiverton Town, and it looks as if I'm right:

Not Yatton, there are no canopy's in this photograph, have a look at the photograph of Yatton in the 60's on this site. Also the footbridge is wrong. 1466 was shedded at Taunton or Tiverton junction in the 60's so i would suggest it is somewhere in that area.

No problem! Its parent site "Subterranea Britannica" is also well worth a visit...full of interesting and spooky abandoned bunkers, underground stations, wartime headquarters etc.

Again, this shows just how many pictures were taken of the railways that people have started to publish on the net. Marvellous!

Someone might want to correct them; that's the town station again, not the Junction.
