Bitton 1940's day

Post by chippy »

Paid a visit to bitton station to see the 1940's day event.I thought that it was well done, the weather was kind for a change. It must have taken a lot of organizing.About lunch time I then went to avon riverside and saw both diesel and steam trains, not at the same time of course, and managed to get some pictures before all of the army vehicles drove off across the fields in the station direction,to have lunch I think!
Some clown had painted on the ground near the platform,'no railway expansion' refering to the line going on to bath I would think.

Looks like a great day out! I couldn't go in the end, did overtime and then had to nurse a sick daughter while the wife took other daughter to a party. Sad to have missed it, would have been a great photo opportunity.

We went for a bike ride through Bitton & stumbled on the 1940's day. It all looked really good, especially for an ex Tank regiment squaddie like me.

The writing on the ground also says some gumpf about trains cause global warming so boycott Bitton station. Muppetts, so what if they do, they are still cool!

Oldland common show was on aswell, we went to go in then realised it was ú5 each! We only had a tenner so wouldnt have then be able to have a cup of tea at Bitton. Its really annoying that you have to pay ú5, as we rode away we bumped into a family of 4 trying to find away through the fence, fair play, the Mum said its not on that she would have to pay ú20 to get everyone in...& its only a local little show. ú2 or ú3 at most i'd say.

Anyway, rant over!

I always wonder if these people realise how a bike is produced. From the ore extracted from the ground, processed, transported, raw material again processed and transported, the frame and other bits made in the far east. Transport the lot to the UK, transport it all over again once here... blah blah blah.... you get the picture. Anyone riding a bike is responsible for a huge amount of global warming!
