Awhh, i much prefer spam can.
Tell you what though, the one thing that amazes me about Tangmere when it passes here is how quiet it is compared to the FGW 158's etc. and its pulling a full load, not 3 coaches.
Now why was a rebuilt Battle of Britain not referred to as Spam as it has lost the can?
Was it because St Phillips Marsh was known as Spam?
I doubt it.
Forgive me, these terminologies bring back so many memories, that's why i just cannot see the point in getting upset about them, they were great.

A late departure this morning, thankfully the rain held off. Tangmere shunted stock forwards through BTM and then brought it all back into platform 6.

STEAM SERVICE FROM BRISTOL IS RUNAWAY SUCCESS

07:43 - 14 July 2008
A steam train which runs from Bristol to the south Devon coast has started its summer service for the sixth year in a row.
The first Torbay Express train of the season on Sunday went to Paignton and Dartmouth, and was only 26 seats short of being a 475-seat sell-out.
Launched in 2003 when it ran on only four Sundays in August, the Torbay Express has been expanded every summer since and in 2008 will have a 14-week season. The service will run every Sunday until September 28, plus August Bank Holiday Monday. Reviving the name of a famous steam express which once ran from London Paddington but which was discontinued in 1961, the Torbay Express now sets out from Bristol each Sunday at 9.18am, picking up at Weston-super-mare at 9.42am, Taunton at 10.42am and Exeter St Davids at 11.18am.
The route takes in the Somerset levels to Taunton, the Blackdown Hills and the Exe Valley to Exeter, the Exe and Teign estuaries, the sea-wall stretch from Dawlish Warren to Teignmouth, passes the estate once owned by Agatha Christie, and into the old riverside terminus station at Kingswear.
This year, three trains will operate on the route; the Great Western Railway 'King' class engine King Edward I; GWR four-cylinder 'Castle' class locomotive Nunney Castle, and the Southern Railway 'Battle of Britain' class engine Tangmere.
Included in the fare - ú55 from Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare, ú54 from Taunton, ú50 from Exeter - is the cost of the foot-ferry across the River Dart to Dartmouth.
Andy Staite, director of the train's promoters Past-Time Rail, said: "The Torbay Express has undoubtedly been helped by the terrific coverage it received in last year's BBC television series Coast.
"The sequences filmed from a helicopter showed the train steaming beside the dramatic 'sea wall' stretch of the line at Dawlish and Teignmouth, scampering around the red sandstone cliffs, and diving in and out of the many tunnels.
"It has given us a much better start to the 2008 season than we could have hoped for."

Had a highly enjoyable trip on the Torbay Express yesterday. It was an exilerating run. Link below. Unable to get near a window on section to Teignmouth from Dawlish...

I noticed this weighing scale at Taunton, is there anything like it at Temple Meads?
