UK Steam now posting that this train will have 71000 Duke of Gloucester and a Class 67. It appears that 6024 King Ed I isn't available. It looks as if DoG will be added at Temple Meads rather than at Stoke Gifford.

UK Steam now shows that The Welsh Marches Express on June 28th to Bristol is cancelled.

Very, very dark plumes of exhaust smoke and steam from DoG at Temple Meads this morning.

Quite a few odd moves this morning - Waterloo train reversed towards Bath Road Bridge, then returned on one of the middle roads near platform 10? Weymouth train couple of carriages topped and tailed by Class 67s.

I was hoping to catch this in Cornwall this afternoon as I've been camping on a site adjacent to the main line to Penzance...unfortunately we'd had enough of the inclement Kernow weather and the 'tooing and froing' of the timings didnt help the case to stay!

Shame as its an ideal spot....

Aparently it failed at Newton Abbot:(

The failure was in the right hand cambox, and has been identified as a broken lever on the cam follower, which jammed the reverser.

The broken pieces are now being removed and the cambox components inspected to ascertain the extent of the damage.

The Duke has arrived at Paignton for an overnight stay. The engine will be moved to Bristol tomorrow.

The Waterloo was trapped on 12 by a couple of FGW West units on 11 with coupling problems (the Weymouth which is booked to run ahead of the Waterloo). Anyway, that's why it left via Bristol West and then ran back through the Down Through. The lcoo on stock on the later Weymouth is a regular SO working.

Thanks for the explanation, I was surprised to see trains running back into Temple Meads, after they had appeared to set off for the West.

There was a solitary Class 66 running through at one point.

There was quite a lot going on that morning. The Weymouth E&C, DofG and a XC Voyager were coming off Barton Hill in the wrong order because the Weymouth stock was late. DofG had to go and stand on the carriage line at Bristol West (instead of the Up Though) so that the Weymouth could get down the west (on the Carriage Washer lines) to shunt over to Platform 9 for departure. Basically all of this is required because you can only get to/from Barton Hill from the High Level, Platform 1, 3 and the Up Though / Middle Siding.

Another movement as previous mentioned was the Waterloo, departing via the West because it was trapped. The unit that stood on the Up Through which must've been making the photographers on 4 sweat was the next Weymouth if memory serves me. That was stabled on Platform 2/Motorail and had to shunt to the downside so it needed to come in from Pyle Hill and then go back out to Bristol West.

The light engine was from Portbury after working a rake of wagons down for stabling over the weekend.

What else was there? Erm, 67 off the charter ran round to collect brake coach from the rear where it was then going to go to Barton Hill for fuel. Later after the charter had departed it was decided to run direct to the westcountry so it ran roound again and left from 6...

Not bad goings on for the modern unit biased railway!

Missed the Class 66 as it went past.
