Railway Line near Slimbridge

Post by BristleGWR »

Does anyone know the purpose of the railway line situated a mile or so west of Slimbridge that appear on the 1924 map at www.old-maps.co.uk

The line appears to go from Sheperd's Patch next to the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal to the LMS main line (near Gossington), the line also branches out to the west to about 16 'buildings' each with their own line.

The map also shows an Engine Shed near Old Hurst Farm and another building that had a siding which is about the only thing still visible of this 'line' on google maps Link Here

I think you will find they were to do with an ammunitions factory that was all around that area years ago.
