Filton bank footbridges to be "caged"
A quick update about this.
Visited Lockleaze today. Once again workmen were present. Apparently, sometime last week, vandals removed a section of the caging and threw it onto the tracks below! The workmen were busy installing shear bolts throughout to prevent this from happening again. (which sort of begs the question as to why these types of bolts aren't used as standard)
There was evidence of two new fires, plus the section of flooring that was being installed on my last report has been ripped to shreds. Both ends of the bridge had lots of evidence of Police 'scene of crime' yellow and black tape. An entire section of fencing has been ripped down, while elsewhere an entire section of fencing has been erected.
Had a conversation with the workmen. Basically we all had the same opinion. The vandals have seen the preventative measures as 'bait', and are going out of their way to destroy the new security measures with gusto.
