Good news all round if this actually goes ahead! I'm not sure what the point of renaming Stapleton Road is though...that'll just confuse people and add unnecessary expense and complications (all timetables/ticket machines/computer systems etc will need updating).

I can see why they think the renaming of stapleton rd to easton is a reasonable idea .When you consider its location the name of stapleton rd would not appeal or make travel sense to the local community in the area where as easton would .
Its the same really as patchway its not in patchway at all never has been never will be its in little stoke .Horefield is really lockleaze !

I guess so...I probably only know where Stapleton Road is because of the station! :lol:

I don't like this obsession with murals on stations...instead of brightening up an area they make them look more unfriendly, and immediately make you think "hey, this is an area of social deprivation", as they always appear in areas of heavy vandalism as a result of a desperate council trying to "involve the commuity". Montpelier is particularly hideous, and it's hard to tell which is "official" graffiti and which isn't. There's a beautiful stone building in there somewhere.

The best way to make a station look cared for is a simple two-tone colour scheme, with a dark colour on frames, borders etc, and a lighter one on panels. Clean and uncluttered...just like they used to be! A system of daily inspections, and painting-over of the graffiti as soon as it is spotted are also essential...maybe this will come about with the "station adoption" scheme, but it wouldn't hurt to have train crew/passengers keeping an eye out, with a freephone "Vandalism Line" to report incidents, with a rapid response team travelling out to the affected station as soon as possible.

:D at least st andrews rd is clean and semi welcoming and quite a few times the staff at avonmouth have directed passengers to the real bus stop .
Unfortuneatly for one passenger this was the wrong st andrews they had arrived at .A universaty hopefull was put on a train at manchester to go to st andrews ( scotland) .Somehow he managed to find his way to st andrews rd avonmouth.The poor person didnt speak very good english but his freind on the phone he was using did . After a short conversation it was explained to the person how he was several hundred miles off route to make it worse he had 1 chance to catch the last service back to temple meads but wouldnt make his interview at the uni for 9.30 the next day

I notice they are thinking of putting a stop at the Portway Park and Ride (Good! Shall we call it West Town? No? ... M5 Bridge then?)

But at the possible expense of closing Shirehampton (Bad!)

How about a halt at the bottom of Sylvan Way?

No chance - sadly!

Very pleased to hear that they're finally looking at re-instating Henbury and North Filton stations as part of a longer term 'loop' service.

North Filton is ideally situated for Royces, British Aerospace, the Royal Mail depot and Filton College which is just across the road. And just to help things along a bit the platforms at North Filton are actually still there for once! ;-)

Maybe they could even create a second chord at Narroways junction facing north to create a 'complete' loop. Imagine the journey possibilities then - or maybe i'm just being too hopeful yet again!
