I got myself down to Pilning this morning to catch the Red Dragon comming down the hill from Patchway.

From what a gent on the platform said, it would be slowing down for his mothers aniversary (who was waiting on the Platform) and sure enough it cruised through at about 10mph with multiple toots on the wistle!
Some other bits thats went through whilst waiting....

Anyone got any tips on how to take pictures better when faced with such hazy bright conditions?

Get a map, and find a location where you won't be looking straight into the sun. Ideally, the sun should be behind you, although this doesn't apply if you're trying for glints. Also, make sure you're on the sunny side of the train, or all you get is a silhouette with bleached sky.Rich_Eason wrote:Anyone got any tips on how to take pictures better when faced with such hazy bright conditions?
Saw the King en route to and from Carmathen at St Ishmael. Stood on a pill box on the sea wall, close to the River Towy esturary near Ferryside. Quite a turnout for the return, 15 chaps with cameras, some of them arrived two hours in advance of the return run. I think a couple of them have shots printed in Steam Railway and Heritage Railway and other magazines. For some reason my other half was keen to sit and read in the sun, she liked the location. There must be a quid pro quo.
It was hazy all day on the other side of the Severn.

Have just been watching this video of the Red Dragon, taken by one of the support crew of 6024, so if you have about 7 mins to spare enjoy the trip out from Temple Meads.

Another view from the support coach of the Red Dragon, shows the run from Bridgend.

Still worth more than 6 mins of Holby City...
