So why did First go to all that trouble fully refurbishing a buffet car?
The reason is simple economics, as Virgin have demonstrated with their Voyagers more items for sale, i.e. greater variety (such as novels and magazines which have a 40% or more mark up and are on sale or return; so they cost nothing if not sold) by taking out the payphone and jiging about with the layout they can get more merchandise for sale.
Bye the way I posted on June 28th re the First Meeting I went to about the the bid for the new francise, and then I pointed out that the Portishead Line was not in the ITT document from the SRA or whichever dipstick dept., is running Rail now. Have you noticed how the names change but the bodies (workers) remain the same ? Could it be 'Jobs for the bouys' no not mis-spelt they do seem to keep afloat.

Depressingly it seems to be the same throughout public service (take it from an insider)...the same incompetenti seem to get recycled round and round the system instead of being booted out.
Increasingly jobs for the boys is being replaced by consultantcy contracts for the boys, whereby, the same people resign their positions, then come back "self employed" on four times the salary to exactly the same job and continue to make the same mistakes.

Incidently, Stephen Williams the new MP for Bristol West still hasn't bothered to reply to my email re the 'guided bus lane' proposals, does he have any views on the local lines?
