TRAIN COMPANY GIVES BIG TED A HEAD OF STEAM
11:00 - 30 November 2005
A Group of runners has been given a massive training boost for next year's Bath Half Marathon. Rail operator First Great Western has agreed to become the Forever Friends Appeal's official sponsor for March's event.
As part of the deal, the company is providing free commemorative T-shirts and a private VIP meeting area for the appeal teams' 49 golden bond and independent runners.
In addition, the company is encouraging members of its staff to be involved in the event, either by running for the appeal or by turning up on the day to support and help the Forever Friends team.
Mark Prescott, First Great Western's manager at Bath Spa station, said: "With its current aim of raising ú800,000 for a vital second CT scanner for the Royal United Hospital, the appeal is helping the entire local community.
"Having already been the official sponsor for this year's Ted's Big Day Out, we are pleased to continue to support this worthwhile charity."
Nina Rack, corporate officer for the Forever Friends Appeal, added: "I would like to express our sincerest thanks to First Great Western for its ongoing support.
"From sponsoring Ted's Big Day Out, to ensuring that winners from the Jamie Cullum concert raffle were able to travel to London to meet him, its commitment to the appeal has been first class.
"We would also like to thank runners for investing their time and effort to raise vital funds for our charity."
The Forever Friends Appeal has just a few golden bond places left for its Nationwide Bath Half Marathon 2006 team.
If you would like to apply for a place, or would like to support the appeal through your independent place in the event, contact the events team on 821535.
