Clifton Rocks Railway to reopen?

From the local rag:

Can't see it myself. Apart from anything else the railway would disgorge it's passengers onto a dual carriageway with a pavement less than two foot wide and with no car parking spaces. It would be very dangerous.

I've always been interested in this railway, mainly because it's so unusual! I'd love to see it open again, but as you said, the lower station is right on the Portway now...although a simple set of railings would stop people wandering into traffic. Is there another wider path on the river side of the road? If so then a small footbridge could also help.

What I find most sad is how the lower station facade has been scarred by the addition of (unfortunately necessary) concrete supports to stop it leaning further towards the road. It's an ugly mess :(
