Warmley Station

Post by James »

The station is intact, and the formation clear between Warmley and Oldland Common Halt...have the Avon Valley Railway ever considered extending northwards to this point? Being on a major road, it would certainly help with access to the line, and it would give their northern section a real destination instead of just ending in the middle of nowhere. :?

I think the main problem at Warmley is not only that it is on a main road, but because of where the station is sited, running around a train would involve the closure of the road for quite long (relatively speaking) periods.

And of course, the road would need fully interlocked full barrier crossing gates, which are going to be .... expensive... , although don't ask me how much. :P

So I reckon the only way they could reopen Warmley at the moment would be if they built a new station south of the road, and ignore the old Warmley station completely.
