We have another visiting loco arriving today and will be running our normal timetable on the above date. This is an additional day to our published timetable.
The loco is GWR tank 2-8-0 4247.

GWR 4247 looking superb in it's ex works black livery at Bitton this evening. I understand that the loco has recently been overhauled at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. The loco faces Mangotsfield. <BJ>

Close but not quite...! I'm ready to be corrected if I've got the wrong end of the stick, but as I understand it the loco has been overhauled by Bill Parker's workshop at the Flour Mill in the Forest of Dean and is being run in at the AVR prior to travelling back to Bodmin where it's based. 4247 spent a few weeks at the AVR in the summer of 2005 (when it was pained in GW green) under a similar arrangement.

That could well be the case. Thank's for the correction.

Does anyone have any news about which days the loco will be out and about?
It would be fantastic to see the loco haul a goods train over the River Avon rail bridge. <BJ.

4247 passed its boiler exam today, so will be hauling the passenger service on Sunday to timetable A. Sometime next week it will be off to Bodmin.

4247 + 4 maroon coaches looking and sounding very good at the AVR today.
Lots of people out to see it and many aboard enjoying the ride. <BJ>
